Best practices in math intervention are shared, along with personal success stories about how they use Ascend Math® to motivate their students to reach maximum performance.
The Ascend Math Gold Medal athlete schools shared objectives, desired goals, implementation plans and results of grade gains and high stakes testing, focusing on accountability of both teachers and students, and highlighting the cornerstones of personal achievement.

Snowy Peaks High School, CO
May 14th, 2012With students ranging in math abilities from 3rd to 10th grade, Snowy Peaks High School set out to fill math skill gaps and bring students back up to grade level while individualizing instruction. After the first year using Ascend Math, 70 % of their students improved on their NWEA math scores.
Youngker High School, AZ
May 10th, 2012Youngker High School students were coming in with below grade level skills. Their basic computation and logic skills were missing. Today, their basic skills in terms of addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division have drastically improved. Students are also being able to see their thought process and write it out.
Douglas Rural Schools, WY
May 8th, 2012These rural schools district implemented Ascend Math in a district-wide RTI model with tremendous results. “District MAP results indicated ALL students met individual growth rates in math and reading! Rural school students have shown improved results on state-wide assessments as well.”
Bremerton School District. WA
May 4th, 2012Although they only got started in December, the six schools using Ascend Math in Bremerton are already seeing significant results. “All of the buildings have seen exceptional results. Across the board, post-assessment results have been above 90%, and all buildings except one have an average gain in score above 20%”
Braden River Middle School, FL (2011 Finalist)
May 4th, 2012During the 2010/11 school year 75% of students using Ascend Math improved at least one level on the FCAT. This school year nearly 50% of the students using Ascend have increased two more grade levels. Braden River Middle School reports a remarkable 50.2% increase in post vs pre test results on Ascend.
Carbon County School District, WY (2011 Finalist)
May 4th, 2012Every elementary, special ed, and middle/high school math teacher in Carbon County School District makes use of Ascend Math to prepare students for state testing, help all those who are struggling, and ensure that others remain challenged.
Challenge High School Academy, TX
May 4th, 2012At least 75% of ninth grade students at Challenge High School were functioning at three to four grades below level. Many repeated the same grade level two to three times. In just three months with Ascend Math, all have made significant progress gaining a full year or more and 19% gaining two or more years’ grade level growth over a three month intervention period.
Emmet Belknap Intermediate School, NY
May 4th, 2012Before using Ascend Math for their RTI needs students averaged .5 grade levels of growth per year. These same students have now improved 1.7 grade levels (on average) in just a seven month period. “We are awaiting NY state test score results but we are expecting a statistically significant improvement over previous year’s results.”
Fort Stockton Middle School, TX (2011 Gold Medal Winner)
May 4th, 2012Fort Stockton Middle School achieved tremendous results with Ascend Math in the 2010/2011school year. This year they’re once again stacking up impressive results with pre assessment to post assessment gains up to 39%. In the period of August to February, students logged over 6000 hours on Ascend Math.
Grissom Middle School, IN
May 4th, 2012Last year, Grissom Middle School did not make AYP (adequate yearly progress) in the categories of free/reduced lunch and special education. In October 2011, they put their special education students on Ascend Math. By March, 80% had grown 1 or more levels. More than half of those grew 2 grade levels or more.
Nathan Hale-Ray Middle School, CT
May 4th, 2012Employing a universal assessment/benchmark Nathan Hale-Ray Middle School tested students using Ascend Math in September and again in January. “The results are phenomenal! We will be doing our spring testing soon. The results should be equally dramatic”
Placebridge Academy, CO
May 4th, 2012With more than an 80% ELL population, Placebridge is also a magnet school for mild/moderate and multi-intensive needs students. Students averaging 68.9% on a pre-assessment grew dramatically after using Ascend, averaging 93.6% on their post assessment.
Sanders Middle School, AZ
May 4th, 2012Faced with many students needing help and only one educator available, Sanders Middle School turned to Ascend Math. “Education had to stop being boring and challenges had to be made.” They are seeing a 30% increase as students move up levels, and students are improving in other ways as well.
West Hills Middle School, UT
May 4th, 2012West Hills Middle School implemented Ascend Math in a summer camp designed to help students who failed the CRT in math the previous school year. In just two weeks, 56 students achieved at least one grade level, 26 achieved 2 grade levels, and 1 achieved an amazing 3 grade levels.
